Mental Health Counseling
"Between the stimulus and the response, there is a space, and in that space lies our power and our freedom." Victor Frankl

Nicole M. Iannelli LMHC
I am often asked why I chose to become a therapist. My response is that I truly value working with people through their journey in life. I believe all of us are far more than a set of symptoms, struggles and personal history. We are unique and can achieve things we would never believe possible. We all must find a place in our lives for our past experiences in order to progress forward. Therapy can assist us in finding the clarity, resolution and hope to make positive changes.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who has practiced in a variety of roles within the counseling field since 1999. I am a graduate of Rhode Island College in Providence, Rhode Island, where I majored in Psychology. After receiving my Bachelor of Arts, I began to pursue a Master of Arts in Agency Counseling. My journey as a therapist originated with children and adolescents in residential treatment. I also enjoyed the opportunity to work with children and their families in the community mental health field with children's intensive services. My experiences as a therapist within these roles paved my natural path towards licensure and the pursuit of a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies Degree in the area of Mental Health Counseling. Once receiving my Rhode Island licensure I began my career in private practice.
My professional and personal experiences have helped to provide me with the skills to offer therapy that is both understanding of and compassionate toward each client or system that seeks my support. I believe in affecting change through strength based counseling, insight-oriented cognitive and behavioral interventions and supportive structuring of the environments in which they live. My approach is interactive and directive with an eclectic use of psychological theory, mindfulness and validation. Please contact me with any questions you may have. I look forward to the opportunity to speak with you!
